All things Gelli

With Gelli printing, you can't go wrong—everything you create is a foundation for new possibilities.

Discover what a Gelli Plate is, what type of printing it is, and it’s endless possibilities.

Is a Gelli print a monoprint?

Gelli prints are a type of monoprinting. Mono-printing involves applying paint or ink onto a smooth surface that does not absorb the material, such as a Gelli Plate or plexiglass. Depending on the chosen method, the artist manipulates the medium with tools, brushes, stencils, masks, and botanicals.

Each print is truly one of a kind and impossible to replicate. This technique allows for the creation of unique prints filled with spontaneity. Monoprinting is often celebrated as the painterly print, embodying a sense of freedom and expressiveness that sets it apart.

What is a Gelli Plate made from?

The Gelli Plates I use in my workshops are made from a unique plastic containing mineral oil. They are non-toxic, vegan-friendly and reusable.
